The downward pressure on crude oil prices is helping to keep red diesel prices lower this winter. Prices in November 2013 are cheaper than at the same period last year. This is largely due to increased oil production in the US and other non OPEC countries, an easing of tensions between Iran and the US and a de-escalation of tensions over Syria (which saw prices pushed up over late summer). As demand picks up over the winter 2013/2014 period, the prices may rise as it has in previous years due to supply issues.
