Heating oil prices in England are usually lowest in the summer, due to the fall in demand, so whenever possible, take advantage of these lower heating oil prices and fill your tank then. In the summer, when you are just heating your water, your oil level will hardly move but, come autumn, when the heating goes back on you may no longer be in the habit of checking your oil level and you can be caught out.
Heating oil prices can start rising as early as September so check your tank regularly and order your domestic heating oil in plenty of time. The most important thing is to have your tank as full as possible before the December rush. The Christmas queue in the supermarket is easy for us all to avoid - try to imagine what it would be like if you had to form a queue with thousands of other people to buy your oil.
