Bolton boiler scheme receives further funding

Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council has extended its support to a scheme aimed at making homes in the city more energy efficient, it has emerged.

To date, more than 80 home owners in receipt of benefits in Bolton have been able to save energy and money through the Better Behaving Boiler scheme.

Now, the council is to provide further funding to the local Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (EEAC) so that it can provide grants of up to £1,500 to eligible homeowners in order to install a high efficiency boiler, This is Lancashire reports.

According to the news website, swapping an old boiler for a high-efficiency condensing boiler can reduce heating costs by an estimated 32 per cent.

Residents can find out whether they are eligible for assistance from the scheme by contacting the EEAC.

Last week, Birmingham City Council gave the go-ahead to a scheme that will see cost-saving appliances such as solar-powered water heaters installed in 300 homes.
