Households to be blighted by higher-than-expected inflation

Times are tight for a lot of households in the UK, as many people's wages are not going up at the same rate as inflation.

The cost of living appears to be rising all the time and Britons are having to find ways to drive down their monthly outgoings.

Bank of England governor Mervyn King is anticipated to reveal tomorrow (May 16th) that rates of inflation are going to be higher than expected in the next few months.

Legal & General's latest MoneyMood survey also showed that 88 per cent of households are predicting rising inflationary pressures in the next year.

This will come as a huge blow to energy customers - many of whom are already having to find ways to drive down their bills.

Heating oil customers can ensure they are getting the most out of their fuel, however, by spending a bit of money on insulation.

By lagging walls and insulating loft spaces in a property, heat is less likely to escape, therefore less oil is required to keep your home warm.
