A property in Suffolk has fallen victim to heating oil theft, demonstrating the importance of security measures to protect the fuel.
The incident took place in Beck Row, where a house on Hawk Close was targeted by thieves, the Newmarket Journal reports.
Perpetrators had managed to drill a hole into the owners' tank and then siphoned out an unknown quantity of heating oil before making their escape.
Anyone who can offer information about the crime has been asked to contact Suffolk Police, but the investigation could be hampered by the fact that it is not known exactly when the theft took place.
Since the heating at the property did not go off until the tank was completely dry, the thieves could have struck anytime between April 7th and 23rd.
This comes after police in Carrick told the Carrick Gazette that it is important to protect home heating oil all year round, as criminals will not just target the fuel during the winter months.
