Rural residents 'have a better quality of life'

People who live in rural areas - many of whom rely on heating oil for warmth - enjoy a better quality of life than urban dwellers.

This is according to the Campaign to Protect Rural England, which stated that the peacefulness and picturesque landscape makes the countryside increasingly appealing to house hunters.

Spokesman Jack Neill-Hall also believes people in remote locations benefit from a better sense of community than those who reside in towns and cities.

"It's no great surprise to find those who live in the countryside have a higher quality of life," he remarked.

"Throughout our history a house in the country has been the dream of many an urbanite."

This comes after the Halifax Rural Areas Quality of Life Survey showed south Cambridgeshire to offer the best lifestyle.

Residents living in this part of the world had an average life expectancy of 81.6 years and 95 per cent were deemed to be in good health.
