Heating oil 'may be needed as temperatures drop'

Heating oil 'may be needed as temperatures drop'

20 January 2011

The recent weather conditions could encourage people to buy heating oil in an attempt to keep their houses warm.

Households across the UK have just recovered from the severe cold snap the country experienced in November and December 2010 but low temperatures are still being felt.

The Met Office has said that over the next couple of days the weather will be "generally rather cold", adding that frost and freezing fog patches will be developing in places across Britain later tonight (January 20th 2011).

It also predicted showers to persist over the next few days, with clouds likely to be the main problem in Scotland.

Towards the end of the month, temperatures are likely to reach normal January conditions with frost and fog to continue into February.

No severe weather warnings have been given for the UK but homeowners could check their heating oil supplies after the BBC reported that some areas could reach minus ten degrees Celsius today.
